In June 2025, PFRA launched a brand new program called the Higher Education Grant, which benefits the sons and daughters of Plano Fire-Rescue employees and retirees who are graduating high school and enrolling in a university, trade school, or other higher education institution.
Different from the PFRA Scholarship program, the Higher Education Grant program is not a competitive application; all sons and daughters of Plano Fire personnel who meet the application criteria and have not already received a scholarship or grant from PFRA are eligible to receive a grant, which is paid directly to the higher education institution.
Details of the new grant program, including eligibility requirements and a link to the application, are on this webpage: https://legacy.pfra.net/higher-education-grants/
